Neighbor Night Ideas
Every neighborhood is full of friends who face challenges in which they need a good neighbor. Here are some ideas to help your family generously love your neighbors.
- Get to know your neighbors’ birthdays. Send them cards or do something special for them on their special day.
- Host a Neighborhood New Year’s gathering or another holiday. Provide a safe place for people to gather.
- Have your family host a children’s craft day three to four times a year. Invite children from around the neighborhood to share in a time of making crafts.
- If single senior adults or senior adult couples live in your neighborhood, adopt them as grandparents. Visit them regularly. Help them as opportunities arise.
- When a neighbor leaves town on vacation or something else, surprise them by doing their yard work while they are away. Leave them a note, “Welcome Home! Thanks for being a good neighbor!”
- Deliver brownies or fresh-baked cookies to your neighbors to get to know them.
- Invite a new family who just moved into your neighborhood into your home for a meal or a dessert.
